WA’s coal cliff: Industry warns of looming power shortfall

Energy suppliers and renewables advocates have cast doubt on the Cook government’s promise to turn off coal-fired power by 2030 in Western Australia, and warned of an energy shortfall unless the transmission system is drastically improved.

Industry says WA is fast running out of time to build the poles and wires needed for the wind and solar projects vital to the switch away from fossil-fuel-driven power.
