Viva shores up EV defences with $1.15b buy

Viva Energy boss Scott Wyatt says the petrol and diesel supplier is now primed to launch a push into electric vehicle charging after it struck a $1.15 billion deal to buy a successful network of convenience stores in South Australia, boosting its activities in the lucrative grab-and-go retail sector.

The acquisition of OTR Group from the Shahin family-owned Peregrine Corporation, the largest private company in SA, will hand Viva the 205-strong network of On the Run retail outlets that generate more than $3 billion in annual revenue and employ some 6500 people.
