Turning turbines into sneakers: a recycling idea takes flight

London | El Ganso is a Spanish fashion brand catering primarily for the middle-aged man. It’s probably not the first place you’d go to drop off your surplus stock of old 23-metre wind turbine blades.

But Spanish renewables giant Acciona Energia, on a mission to get ahead of looming European recycling rules and the imminent use-by date on thousands of its wind turbines, has tried to put its best foot forward.
