Transport projects drive Sydney's $285m power upgrade

NSW power grid owner TransGrid expects to start construction in two months on a $285 million upgrade of Sydney's electricity network on the assumption of rising peak electricity demand in the city despite the impact of COVID-19.

Chief executive Paul Italiano said even taking into account the pandemic, Sydney's peak electricity demand was expected to continue to grow due to transport infrastructure projects.
