Tasmania sells defunct Bell Bay station to Iberdrola-backed group

The Tasmanian government is selling its decommissioned Bell Bay gas power station to a junior hydrogen developer, backed by Spain’s Iberdrola, which plans to convert it into a $1.2 billion fuel hub for shipping tankers.
Hydro Tasmania, a government-owned firm, reached an in-principle agreement on Sunday to sell the decommissioned power station site to ABEL Energy to make green methanol from hydrogen.
