Victorian businesses could be charged nearly $31,000 and households almost $2400 to connect to the gas network from 2025 in the latest step of the Labor government’s strategy to discourage use of the fossil fuel.
A report by state energy regulator the Essential Services Commission recommends users pay a one-off fee to set up their gas connection rather than pay for it through their bills over time.
