Two large solar farms, a wind farm and an eight-hour battery will be built as a result of the first competitive tender under the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap helping secure clean power at a record price to replace ageing coal power stations.
The four projects would involve more than $2.5 billion in investment and should deliver enough electricity to power 700,000 homes, said Paul Verschuer, executive general manager of AEMO Services, the part of the Australian Energy Market Operator tasked with running the tender for the NSW government.
