Former Energy Security Board chairwoman Kerry Schott said the current energy crisis showed gas needed to be the crucial link between coal and renewables on the pathway to net-zero emissions by 2050.

Amid soaring electricity and gas prices that are hurting households and businesses, Dr Schott said energy regulators and politicians needed to focus on the capacity mechanism as the number one reform to smooth out the transition to a low-emissions economy.
