Repository rather than warehousing solution required for nuclear waste
While the South Australia Royal Commission into the Nuclear Fuel Cycle continues its hearings, the federal government has made its own inroads into the nuclear debate.
Recently Resources Minister Josh Frydenberg announced a shortlist of six locations in which Australia's current low-level nuclear waste could be stored long term, as opposed to the short-term warehousing solution used by Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and the shipping of Australian nuclear waste to Europe (only to see it shipped back).
