Cashed-up NSW coal power owner jilted by banks

The owner of the Vales Point coal power plant in NSW has asked for an urgent change in the rules for the energy market so it can provide cash instead of a bank guarantee to back up its operations.
Delta Electricity described the financing options available to it beyond 2024 when its existing guarantee – understood to be from Macquarie Bank – expires as “extremely limited or nonexistent”.
