AGL, EnergyAustralia coal power deals with Victoria kept secret
The Victorian Labor government is keeping secret more than 40 documents detailing deals with AGL and EnergyAustralia to keep coal power stations operating for up to a decade, while also pledging to hit 95 per cent renewables by 2035.
Excerpts from confidential government documents confirm a secret deal to keep Victoria’s coal power stations operating, but the Allan government has refused to reveal the cost despite demands in the state parliament.
An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the Victorian government had done deals with coal-fired power station owners Origin Energy and EnergyAustralia. It should have referred to AGL and EnergyAustralia.
