AEMO chief’s sleepless nights amid flat-out pace of change

Daniel Westerman has been thrust into the national spotlight. The agency he heads, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), is seeking all at once to prevent blackouts in Australia’s largest cities, restart spot trading on the country’s National Electricity Market (NEM), and shepherd a crucial road map for Australia’s energy transition into the public glare, via the Integrated Systems Plan (ISP), its 30-year blueprint for the power grid.
