ACCC puts gas companies on notice over price cap

The corporate regulator said it would target big gas companies that attempted to enter into variable price agreements to avoid the Albanese government’s new $12 a gigajoule price cap.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission confirmed on Tuesday that companies would be liable for a $50 million fine if they breached the cap, which will be in force for 12 months in an effort to bring down skyrocketing gas prices.
