There is a massive need in Australian board rooms for board renewal. That's the view of Jim McKerlie, chairman of ASX 200 company Drillsearch Energy who says that for too long the universe of candidates for new directors has been very narrowly focused.

Typically those candidates with a successful executive career, cognisant of governance requirements, financially savvy, and with specific industry experience were favoured, says McKerlie.
