A big Canadian superannuation fund has acquired a controlling stake in Mitolo Family Farms, the country’s largest potato-growing businesses and the operator of 26 farms in South Australia and NSW.
The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and its Australian agriculture subsidiary, AustOn Corporation, have purchased a majority holding. The Mitolo family will retain what it referred to as a “significant ownership stake”.
