‘I don’t even know if a director did leak’: AACo chairman
Key Points
- AACo says it just became aware of claims against Joe Lewis.
- The beef giant says will seek legal advice on matter.
- It has not sought to determine the source of the alleged leak.
Beef giant AACo’s chairman says the board has not asked which of its directors is alleged to have passed on material information to shareholder and British billionaire Joe Lewis, who has been charged with insider trading.
“Certainly not,” chairman Donald McGauchie said after AACo’s annual general meeting in Brisbane on Thursday. “This is all part of an ongoing investigation which is being done in a proper process.”
An earlier version of this story said Mr Lewis owned Tottenham Hotspur. The club says he owned the club until last year, when legal changes meant he ceased being a person with significant control, and now a trust, of which members of his family are potential beneficiaries, owns 70 per cent of the club.
