Treasurer and RBA light the sharemarket fuse
The federal government has freed up billions of investment dollars that have been sitting on the sidelines, which will now be unleashed on the equity markets.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Reserve Bank of Australia governor Philip Lowe have kicked off a sharemarket rally that is likely to last through to the end of the year.
Frydenberg added another $20 billion to the federal government's coronavirus support package and Lowe reassured markets the central bank would do whatever was necessary to support the economy.
