Star’s top brass should face inquiry

There was a moment at the NSW government inquiry into The Star Entertainment Group on Tuesday afternoon that illustrates perfectly why the casino operator’s chairman, John O’Neill, outgoing chief executive Matt Bekier, and other directors should appear before the probe.

Counsel assisting the inquiry, Naomi Sharp SC, was questioning Star’s general manager of finance and commercial, Michael Whytcross, about a remittance scheme, which was claimed to have been used by the group to bring in money from wealthy Asian gamblers.
