It’s only 30 minutes on the train from Columbia University to the New York Stock Exchange, but in a week that has seen a Federal Reserve rates decision and a steady stream of earnings reports, the pro-Palestinian protests that have been raging at Ivy League colleges have hardly been front of mind for most investors.

But for Macquarie strategy guru Viktor Shvets, the protests represent an insight into the environment investors need to start thinking about as Millennials and Gen Z become the dominant part of populations and electorates.
