John O’Neill should have listened to this Macquarie legend

John O’Neill conceded Star’s risk management was not what it should have been. But denied he had misled the market or selectively briefed investors.

Early on the second day of his evidence to the NSW inquiry into The Star Entertainment Group, the company’s executive chairman, John O’Neill, was briefly transformed from under-fire witness into his more familiar role as corporate insider.

“Allan Moss, who used to run Macquarie Bank exceptionally successfully, was interviewed – I know Allan quite well – and someone said, ‘when you get up every day, Mr Moss, what do you think about?’
