Doing more with less will not solve the housing crisis
Building costs have stopped rising quickly, but could easily take off again if builders are bidding for labour and materials against our other good causes.
We’re five months into a five-year plan to build enough homes to fix the housing crisis, but we’re already falling behind.
Homes are too costly to build, take too long and there are not enough people to build them. The government’s 1.2 million homes by 2029 target looks ambitious, if not already unattainable under existing industry conditions.
