Commonwealth Bank chief executive Matt Comyn has a simple message for anyone who thinks banks are on their way to becoming utilities in a world of ultra-low interest rates.

“We don’t have a view that banking is commoditised. We have the opposite view to that,” Comyn told Chanticleer on Wednesday, shortly after the bank posted an interim profit result that confirmed its dominance of the Australian sector.
