Clive Palmer has returned fire in his war with Chinese conglomerate CITIC Limited after it appealed against a court ruling he expects will deliver him billions of dollars over the life of the Sino Iron project in Western Australia's iron ore-rich Pilbara.

Mr Palmer said he was disappointed but not surprised that CITIC was challenging a Supreme Court of Western Australia ruling on Sino Iron royalty payments to his private company Mineralogy.
