Airlines Qantas, Virgin, Air New Zealand and Rex unite to take on airport fees

The hyper-competitive airline sector has put aside its differences to form Australia and New Zealand's first aviation industry group, which will go into battle with monopoly airport owners over rising fees and lobby for more investment in infrastructure.
Former competition czar Graeme Samuel will chair the group, which includes Qantas Airways, Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand, regional carrier Regional Express Holdings and their low-cost subsidiaries Jetstar and Tigerair.
