In 2010, ABC reporters Chris Uhlmann and Mark Simkin had the scoop that Julia Gillard was about to move against prime minister Kevin Rudd and replace him as leader.
It was the biggest story of the year but the ABC chose not to do rolling coverage. Rather, it reported the story in its 7pm news bulletin then resumed regular programming, giving news updates throughout the evening and on the 7.30 Report and Lateline.
