Police are investigating whether speed or racing was a factor in a crash which killed two motorcyclists near Murray Bridge on Saturday.
A 27-year-old Panorama man and a 31-year-old Magill man died at the scene on Pearson Road in Brinkley at about 1.30pm.
Police said both motorcycles were travelling north when they left the road and crashed into trees.
One bike was split in half by the force of the crash, which left debris strewn across the side of the road.
Another bike was nearly unrecognisable on the side of the road. A tree is believed to have been knocked down by the impact.
Several hours after the crash, police let three other motorcyclists out of the closed section of road.
It is unclear whether the two dead riders were traveling with the other three riders when the crash occured.
Major Crash investigators attended the scene and begun piecing together the circumstances leading up to the crash.
Investigators will also assess whether drugs, alcohol or distraction played a role in the crash.
The incident brings the number of lives lost on South Australian roads so far this year to five, compared to seven at the same time last year.
Three motorbike riders have lost their lives already this year.
