A confused homeowner who woke to the smell of cooking this morning got a shock when she discovered a stranger cooking chicken and eggs in her kitchen.

The Seacombe Gardens resident woke to her dog barking and the smell of cooking drifting from the kitchen about 5.30am Thursday.

The homeowner found the woman standing at the stove top cooking chicken and eggs in a frying pan. A police spokesman said the woman also took prawns out of the freezer.

When questioned, the unwanted cook walked out the house through the back door.

Police were called and found the suspect, a 43-year-old Hendon woman, nearby on Diagonal Road.

She was arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, and theft, after police say she also stole a packet of cigarettes from the house.

She was refused police bail to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.

Meanwhile, an intruder has been arrested in South Plympton overnight after he was caught pretending to be a statue while allegedly trespassing.

A security company reported a person with a torch walking around a building site on Pleasant Ave about 3.30am Thursday.

Officers with a police dog arrived, and say they found a man inside one of the new apartments pretending to be a statue.

The 29-year-old Seaton man was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises.

He has been refused police bail as checks revealed he had an outstanding court warrant.

On Thursday morning, Aizak Mathew Moneydeng appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in a video link with the City Watch House.

Wearing a face mask, he listened as police prosecutors said they did not oppose his release on bail, but were concerned about his capacity to follow court orders.

They said his prior history and outstanding warrants indicated the court may have no comfort that he would answer his bail if released.

Counsel for Moneydeng stated their client had instructed he was not attempting to break into the construction site, but was merely looking for a place to sleep.

They said Moneydeng had been drinking with friends and was quite intoxicated, and wanted to lay down before he made his trip home.

They said despite the statue allegation, Moneydeng had been cooperative with the arresting officers.

Magistrate David McLeod refused bail, saying he had no confidence Moneydeng would return to court if released.

He remanded him in custody to face the Adelaide Magistrates Court on all his outstanding cases in December.
