SATURDAY, JULY 25

MAN STABBED DURING SUSPECTED ROBBERY

A man has suffered non-life threatening stab wounds in a suspected robbery gone wrong near Gawler.

Police and ambulance crews reported to the business on Coventry Road in Kudla about 6.20pm on Friday.

Police believe three men forced their way into the property and stabbed a male occupant before fleeing with money.

The victim was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.

It is unclear whether the suspects are known to the victim.

Detectives were expected to revisit the business on Saturday to continue their investigations.

DELIVERY DRIVER PULLED FROM VEHICLE, ASSAULTED AND ROBBED

A food delivery driver has been pulled from his vehicle, assaulted and robbed by an unknown man.

Police were called to Euston Walk in Mawson Lakes about 2am on Saturday following the assault.

The driver told police that a man of African appearance, about 195cm tall and 30 years old had pulled him out of his car before stealing drinks.

The suspect then entered a nearby unit complex.

The driver was not physically injured and investigations are continuing with crime scene officers attending the scene on Saturday morning.

FRIDAY, JULY 24

NINE ARRESTED IN ‘CANNABIS SYNDICATE’

Nine people have been arrested this week after detectives uncovered what they allege is a cannabis syndicate based primarily out of the Barossa region.

Police conducted numerous searches across the northern suburbs and country areas, uncovering what they called a cannabis syndicate, run predominantly from the Barossa Valley.

Police say the group was collectively growing and distributing cannabis. As a result of the searches, police seized 81 cannabis plants, around 7.5kg of dried cannabis, and electrical equipment used in cultivating cannabis.

Nine people have been arrested and charged with cultivating a large commercial quantity of cannabis, trafficking a large commercial quantity of cannabis, and various other drug offences. They were bailed to appear in court at a later date.

TWO ARRESTED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING IN WESTERN SUBURBS

Two men were arrested and charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a drug in Croydon Park overnight.

Police went to a storage facility on Days Rd in relation to an ongoing investigation just before 7pm Thursday. Police found two men at the facility and searched them – uncovering 180g of methamphetamine and $50,000 in cash.

A 24-year-old Croydon Park man and a 60-year-old Ethelton man were both arrested and charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a drug. They were refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

Police say they will continue to target people involved in the illicit drug trade.

THURSDAY, JULY 23

PORT PIRIE DOCTOR ‘ASSAULTED’ IN HOSPITAL ATTACK

Port Pirie Hospital staff had to barricade themselves in a resuscitation room as a woman allegedly assaulted a doctor and trashed the emergency department on Wednesday.

Police say the woman, 32, who was a patient, was acting in a “violent and aggressive manner” at the hospital just after 9.30am.

She is accused of throwing medical equipment against a set of glass doors leading to the emergency department, as well as damaging perspex at the nurse’s station.

She also allegedly assaulted a female doctor by hitting her in the chest.

Emergency staff went into lockdown and barricaded themselves in the resuscitation room and the nurse’s office.

The woman was detained a short time later and received medical treatment.

Police officers arrested the woman at her home on Thursday and charged her with assaulting an emergency service worker and property damage.

She was bailed to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court in October.

MOLOTOV COCKTAIL ATTACK RENOWN PARK

Police are investigating an arson attack at a Renown Park home overnight.

Police and fire crews were called to a house on Nieass Place just before 11.30pm Wednesday after the occupant heard the sound of breaking glass coming from the property.

The victim discovered two broken glass Molotov cocktails next to a damaged front window.

The fire did not spread and no-one was injured in the incident. Investigations are continuing.

WOMAN ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTS POLICE OFFICER AFTER ARREST

A woman has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a Peterborough home on Wednesday morning, and later assaulting a police officer.

Police say the woman gained entry to a vacant premises on Queen St, by smashing a rear sliding door about 5am Wednesday. The woman was confronted by a witness, who contacted police. Household items and jewellery were stolen during the break-in.

A 30-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested a short time later.

A large quantity of stolen property was recovered and the woman was allegedly found in possession of about 65g of cannabis. Police say the woman allegedly assaulted a police officer by attempting to punch him in the head at the police station.

The woman was charged with serious criminal trespass, possessing cannabis, and assaulting the police. She was bailed to appear in the Peterborough Magistrates Court in October.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 22

FATAL CRASH AT EDINBURGH

A motorcyclist has died in a crash at Edinburgh this morning.

Police and emergency services were called to Woomera Ave just before 9am Wednesday, after reports of a crash between a motorcycle and a truck.

PARTS OF GOODWOOD RD CLOSED TO TRAFFIC AFTER CRASH

A man has been taken to hospital after crashing into a Stobie pole on Goodwood Rd at Daw Park, bringing down powerlines and blocking traffic in both directions.

Police and emergency services were called to Goodwood Rd, near Springbank Rd, just after 5.30am this morning after reports a motorist had crashed into a Stobie pole.

A 20-year-old Morphett Vale man was taken to Flinders Medical Centre with minor injuries, and his car was towed from the scene.

Police say the powerlines were across the road and traffic was blocked from the former Peter Van the Party Man, causing delays to motorists on their way to work in the city.

Goodwood Road was closed to traffic in all directions for several hours, but has since been cleared.

An SA Power Networks spokesman Paul Roberts said a large block of units and a business was without power due to the crash. He said the power would be restored between 11am and 12pm Wednesday.

GUN AUDIT LEADS TO AN ARREST

Two men will face court for firearm offences following an audit check earlier this week in Whyalla Norrie.

Police conducted a security audit check of a registered firearms owner at a Whyalla Norrie address at around midday on Monday July 20. During the audit, police discovered the firearm could not be accounted for and ammunition had not been stored in accordance with legislation. Further inquires revealed the firearm had been supplied to an associate who was not authorised to possess a firearm. The firearm was seized and a 54-year-old Whyalla Stuart man was arrested and charged with possessing a firearm without a licence. A 53-year-old Whyalla Norrie man was reported for supplying a firearm to a person not authorised to acquire a firearm and having insecure ammunition. The firearms and ammunition were seized. Both men will appear in court at a later date.

RESTAURANT ROBBED IN MORPHETT VALE

A man wielding a knife has been arrested after allegedly robbing a restaurants in Morphett Vale on Tuesday night. A man entered an Indian restaurant on Main South Rd just before 8pm Tuesday and stole money from the till. Police say when he was challenged by staff, he brought out a knife.

Noone was injured in the incident.

Staff contacted police and provided a description of the suspect. They followed the suspect at a distance and guided police to his location. Police located the suspect at Teusner Driver, and arrested him. The 35-year-old Morphett Vale man was charged with theft and assault. He was refused police bail and will appear at the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.

TUESDAY, JULY 21

SERIOUS CRASH ABERFOYLE PARK

A man has been brought back to life by paramedics after his heart stopped beating for 20 minutes following a crash in Aberfoyle Park.

Police and emergency services were called to a group of shops on Sandpiper Crescent after a white ute crashed through a fence and into a brick wall about 8.30am today.

The ute skimmed another car in the carpark during the crash.

Paramedics worked on the driver and sole occupant for 20 minutes, bringing the 73-year-old Happy Valley man back to life at the scene, police say.

They took him to the Flinders Medical Centre where the man remains in a serious but stable condition.

A police spokesman said the crash was thought to be caused by a medical episode.

A nearby worker, who wished to remain nameless, said it was lucky no one else was injured in the incident.

“It’s, I guess, the best outcome you could get,” he said.

The ute took out multiple panels of the fence on impact.

Police investigations continue.

MAN CRASHES INTO A HOUSE AND PARKED CAR

Police are investigating how a car lost control and collided with a parked car and front porch of a house in Dover Gardens on Monday night.

Police were called to Clacton Road at around 8pm Monday after a Toyota that had been travelling west, lost control and collided with a letterbox, water meter, parked car and front porch of a home.

Minor damage was caused to the front of the house. Both cars were towed from the scene.

The driver, a 28-year-old Morphett Vale man, was not injured and police are investigating the crash.

CCTV LINKED TO RENMARK ARSON

Police have released a photo of a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in an arson attack at a Renmark property last week. A light coloured Toyota Land cruiser 4WD was seen travelling in a southerly direction along Turnbull Lane with three people in the vehicle around 2am, Tuesday, July 14.

The vehicle stopped outside the rear of Unit 5, Twelfth Street, and the occupants of the vehicle entered the vacant unit. Police allege that when the people were inside the unit, a fire was deliberately lit.

Neighbours made attempts to extinguish the fire, and fire crews attended the scene to control the blaze. No one received injuries. The suspect vehicle was captured on CCTV, which has been identified as a light coloured Toyota Land cruiser 4WD 80 series, with a cage-style roof rack and attached awning/PVC pipe.

MONDAY, JULY 20

MAN WITH BABY PASSENGER ‘CRASHES’ INTO POLICE CAR

A drunk man with an infant in his car has been arrested after allegedly crashing into a police vehicle at Bowhill on Monday.

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance at a home just after 8.30am, when the man, 40, of Bowhill, left the scene with an eight-week-old baby in his car.

The man was found driving on Gribble Bore Rd, but he refused to stop and a police helicopter was deployed to track his movements.

Officers managed to stop the 40-year-old as he turned off on to a dirt track near Lowan Rd.

It is alleged the man had a minor collision with a police car.

Police say he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.154.

He was arrested and charged with threats to kill or endanger life, two counts of assault, drive dangerous to escape police and drink driving.

The baby was uninjured and rescued by officers.

MAN CHARGED FOLLOWING MOONTA STABBING

A man has been charged following a stabbing in Moonta East on Sunday morning.

Police were called to Barkla St after reports a man had been stabbed in the back.

The 36-year-old Moonta East man was taken to Wallaroo Hospital before being flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he remains in a serious condition. A 39-year-old Moonta East man was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with aggravated assault causing serious harm. Police say the incident is not random, and the men are known to each other.

MAN ARRESTED ON 43 OUTSTANDING CHARGES

A man has been charged with 43 outstanding offences after he was stopped by Highway Patrols in Kulpara, near Port Wakefield, on Sunday.

Police stopped a Toyota 4WD on the Copper Coast Highway after checks revealed the car was unregistered and uninsured. The driver, a 31-year-old Elizabeth North man, was drug tested and allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine. His sample will be sent to Forensic SA for further analysis.

Further checks on the man revealed he was wanted for questioning over six alleged petrol thefts between 18 January and 17 February this year at Lower Light, Salisbury Park, Two Wells, Clare, Roseworthy, Direk and Willaston.

He was also wanted for questioning over three alleged matters of theft at a store in Clare on February 10 and March 1, and another store in Kilburn on June 25. The man was arrested, and has been charged over the theft matters, as well as driving unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed and having unassigned number plates. He was refused bail and will appear in the Kadina Magistrates Court today.

SUNDAY, JULY 19

MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

Detectives have arrested a man for attempted murder after an incident at Eden Hills involving a three-year-old girl.

The man, 43, briefly appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday.

SERIOUS CRASH AT WATERLOO CORNER

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash at Waterloo Corner.

Paramedics were called to Port Wakefield Road after a car left the road and rolled just after 4.30pm on Sunday.

Initial reports indicate the driver and sole occupant has serious injuries.

Traffic delays are expected.

‘ROCK THROWING’ MOTORCYCLIST

Police are searching for motorcyclist who allegedly threw rocks at a police car at Para Hills.

A member from SA Police’s Traffic Camera Unit was performing speed detection duties on Kesters Road when the rider drove past and threw a rock at the camera just after 8.30pm on Friday.

The rock hit the rear of the vehicle.

The rider returned a short time later and allegedly threw another large rock at the car, this time hitting the driver’s side.

The rider was wearing full motorcycle clothing, including a light coloured helmet, light coloured Dainese motorbike jacket, a dark coloured back protector and light coloured boots.

The motorcycle had the number plate removed but appeared to be a white Honda CBR1000RR or similar.

Anyone with information relating to this incident or who knows the identity of the rider or owner of the motorcycle is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

FATAL CRASH AT WHYALLA STUART

A 20-year-old man has died in hospital after a crash at Whyalla Stuart earlier this month.

Police and emergency services were called to Jubilee Park after a Holden Commodore lost control and rolled into scrub about 11.45am on Wednesday, July 8.

A Whyalla Stuart man, who was a passenger in the car, was seriously injured. He was flown to Royal Adelaide Hospital, but died on Sunday.

An 11-year-old boy, also a passenger, sustained multiple limb injuries and was taken to the Whyalla Hospital for treatment.

A 12-year-old boy, believed to be the driver of the car, was treated for minor injuries.

The man’s death means 55 lives have been lost on SA roads this year compared to 65 at the same time in 2019.

MAN STABBED AT MOONTA

A man has been stabbed after a violent altercation at Moonta East.

Police responded to reports of two men fighting at a home on Barkla Street about 11.30am on Sunday.

When officers arrived they found a 36-year-old man from Moonta East with a stab wound to his back.

He was taken to Wallaroo Hospital where he was stabilised before being flown to Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.

A 39-year-old man from Moonta East was arrested at the scene and is being interviewed by police.

CRASH AT HINDMARSH

Two cars have collided at Hindmarsh leaving one person with a broken arm.

Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Port Rd and Adam St after a Toyota van and Holden Barina collided about 5.40am on Sunday.

The driver of the van broke his arm in the crash and was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment. The Holden driver had minor injuries.

Motorists will not be able to turn left from Park Terrace on to Port Road. Find and an alternative route.

SHED DESTROYED IN STATE’S SOUTH

A shed has been destroyed in a fire which caused $100,000 damage at Willunga.

A passer-by noticed flames coming from the shed in a paddock off Pages Flat Rd about 6.30am on Sunday

Thirty CFS volunteers responded but could not save the shed. They did manage to stop the flames spreading to a nearby farmhouse.

The cause of the blaze is unknown.

TRIO BREACH COVID-19 RULES, CROSS INTO SA

Police are searching for a Victorian car carrying two men and a woman after they breached a COVID-19 direction in the Riverland.

The blue 2004 Holden Rodeo ute – with Victorian registration 1IB-4CT – crossed the border at the Yamba checkpoint just after 5pm on Saturday.

One of the occupants claimed to need urgent medical attention, but did not attend the nominated medical centre in South Australia.
