Family of Michelle Stephanie Foster vow to stand for her as alleged killer Jayden Tanee Lowah is ordered to stand trial

The bashing murder of an Adelaide mother-of-two will go to trial in the Supreme Court — and her family say that, despite their heartbreak, they will stand for her until the long process ends.

A man has been ordered to stand trial over the bashing murder of mother of two Michelle Stephanie Foster — and her family say they remain “heartbroken” over her death.

Jayden Tanee Lowah appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday via video link with the state’s secure mental health facility, James Nash House.

He pleaded not guilty to having murdered Ms Foster, 36, in a random attack outside the Colonnades Shopping Centre at Noarlunga last October.

Previously, police alleged Lowah, 20, of no fixed address, inflicted severe and significant head injuries without using a weapon.

They also ruled out robbery as a motive.

Ms Foster was found lying facedown in a pool of blood by a cyclist who did all he could to try to save her life.

Last month, counsel for Lowah asked for time to seek a mental health assessment.

There was no mention of that assessment in court on Wednesday, and Lowah was remanded in custody to face the Supreme Court in August.

Outside court, Ms Foster’s mother, Andrea, repeated her call for an end to violence within the community.

“The only thing I can say right now is ask people to stop violence — against men, women, anybody — and keep your hands to yourself and just love each other,” she said.

“There are no excuses for violence … we are all still heartbroken, and now have to suffer for the rest of our lives.”

She said she expected the trial process to be “long” and challenging.

“We hoped it could be shorter, but it’s not … the only thing that stops me being heartbroken is being here (at court) for Michelle,” she said.
