Woman charged with assaulting police at scene of suspicious fire at Elizabeth South

A middle-aged woman has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer as emergency services arrived at the scene of a suspicious house fire.

A northern suburbs woman has been arrested for assaulting a police officer as emergency services arrived at the scene of a suspicious house fire overnight.

Police and fire crews were called to Penfold Rd, Elizabeth South, just before 3am on Wednesday after reports a house was alight.

When police and MFS arrived, the home’s occupant was outside but became aggressive and allegedly assaulted police.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the front of the property and smoke damage throughout.

Police and fire investigators arrived to investigate.

The 54-year-old female occupant was arrested and charged with assault police.

Police said a decision had not yet been made regarding bail.
