A woman driver who allegedly collided with a car and tried to mow down her partner before crashing into a power box in North Adelaide has been arrested.

Police were called to Melbourne St after a man reported he was being chased at about 2.30pm on Sunday.

Police will allege the man was a passenger in a Subaru sedan being driven by his domestic partner when an argument occurred.

The Subaru then collided with an oncoming Toyota and the man got out of the car and ran along the busy street.

The woman, 42, of Walkerville followed the man in the car and allegedly attempted to run him over.

The saga came to an abrupt end when the Subaru slammed into a power box on Melbourne St.

She was arrested at the scene for what police described as a “domestic incident” and has been charged with committing acts to endanger life, driving at dangerous speed, driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to stop and breach of bail.

The woman will appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

Melbourne St was closed to all traffic while SA Power Networks rendered the area safe.
