Video has emerged of a young girl being kicked, punched and stomped on during a sickening schoolyard bashing at a Whyalla high school.
Police were called to Whyalla Secondary College at recess time on Monday after a year 11 student was approached and attacked by another student.
Confronting video shows the attacker screaming and swearing as she throws the 16-year-old girl to the ground.
She then punches and kicks the student repeatedly as stunned onlookers watch the incident unfold.
The victim was taken to Whyalla Hospital for treatment of minor facial injuries.
A Department of Education spokesperson told The Advertiser the matter had been referred to SA Police for further action.
“Violence and aggression are not tolerated in the school, and they will be taking appropriate disciplinary measures,” the spokesperson said.
“Wellbeing support will also be available as required.”
Police are appealing for witnesses as investigations continue.
In March, a teenage girl was left traumatised after a similar attack at a Port Augusta school.
The girl was violently bashed, kicked and dragged by her hair by a fellow student in a vicious attack which occurred just minutes after students were dismissed.
The victim’s family at the time said the assault was the latest in a string of attacks and called on the school to do more.
“She’s been threatened but like nothing has been done to help her,” the victim’s sister said.
