A young mother facing charges relating to an alleged abduction at Mawson Lakes wept when she appeared in court on Monday.

Alice Mabel Weekes, 26 of Mawson Lakes, and her co-accused Leonard Robert Richard Wilkins, 36 of Fitzroy, did not apply for bail in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court when facing false imprisonment, arson, theft and gun charges.

Mr Wilkins also faced an aggravated charge of causing serious harm with intent.

Police allege the pair, who both appeared from custody by video link, played a part in the violent abduction of a 31-year-old man at Mawson Lakes on Saturday.

Police say the 31-year-old allegedly visited a woman at a Mawson Lakes home before three men attacked and assaulted him then shot him in the back.

They say the man was then tied up and thrown in the back of his car before being driven to Port Gawler where he was freed and his car was set on fire.

Police say the man had a gunshot wound in his back and the passer-by took him to the Lyell McEwin Hospital and alerted police.

The alleged victim suffered a number of injuries, but they were not considered life threatening.

Police searched a Mawson Lakes home on Sunday as part of an investigation into the incident and seized several items including a gun.

Magistrate Brian Nitschke remanded the pair to reappear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in December.
