One of the victims of a violent brawl in Hackham West remains in a coma after undergoing emergency surgery on Friday afternoon.
That morning, the 21-year-old woman – identified as Anna Paschali – and her 51-year-old mother, Yvonne, were taken to hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds about 4am.
Police said the attack was not random and those involved in the violent brawl were all known to each other.
Jack Gates, the boyfriend of Ms Paschali, told 7News they were walking home after drinks with friends, when the group allegedly turned on her.
He said Ms Paschali had fought back in self defence.
Police were called to the scene at Radom Court after being alerted by witnesses, who told 7News they found the incident so violent and confronting they are now seeking counselling to help deal with the trauma.

A 35-year-old Maitland man and a 21-year-old Hackham West woman have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing harm.
Police said the charged woman had also sustained minor injuries.
They were all known to each other and the two charged will face court at a later date.
