Three truck drivers carrying livestock will appear in court over ‘distressing’ rollovers in country SA

Three truckies will appear in court after lengthy probes into wild rollovers in country SA in which livestock were involved.

Three truck drivers are to appear in court for incidents police have described as “devastating and distressing”.

The serious truck rollovers, which occurred in September, November and December last year, have been under investigation by police from the Yorke Mid North Local Service Area.

Police revealed on Thursday the investigations had culminated in three drivers being summonsed to appear in court.

Burra cattle truck crash

A 43-year-old man from Clare Valley will appear in the Clare Magistrates Court for driving a cattle truck that rolled into a house at Burra last September.

Police were called to the crash at 6.20am on Monday, September 4, after the truck hit a concrete barrier and Stobie pole and rolled over on Ludgvan St.

The truck and trailers came to a rest underneath a veranda and caused extensive damage to a house.

Spalding Police conducted an investigation and the man has been summonsed to appear in court for driving without due care.

Nuriootpa man charged with driving on methamphetamine

A 53-year-old man from Nuriootpa has been reported for driving under the influence of methamphetamine and driving without due care.

A road train fully laden with two trailers of cattle rolled on the Goyder Highway at Bundey at 11.15am on Sunday, November 12.

The driver will appear in Nuriootpa Magistrates Court at a later date.

Truck rollover involving 383 sheep

A 48-year-old man driving a truck carrying sheep is to appear in court after a heavy vehicle rollover involving 383 sheep in Booborowie in December last year.

On Wednesday, December 6 at around 4pm, police were called out to the rollover at the intersection of Booborowie and Kimbo roads.

Police said the truck was moving sheep between properties while negotiating the intersection.

The man was reported for driving without due care and is set to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court at a later date.

“During all of these incidents, the collisions were protracted in nature,” SA Police said in a statement.

“Police wish to extend their appreciation to our volunteer emergency services and local communities for their support at these devastating and distressing collisions.”
