A Marion man has lost his licence after being caught drink driving and failing to display L-plates – marking the second drink driving bust on SA roads in two days.

A 39-year-old Marion man has lost his licence after being caught drink driving at Mitchell Park on Friday night.

Police stopped the man on Marion Rd at about 9.20pm.

He returned a positive alcohol reading of 0.099 with further checks revealing he held a learners permit despite driving without a licensed passenger.

The man was charged for drink driving, breaching conditions of his learner’s permit and failing to display L-plates.

The man’s licence has been suspended for six months and his Hyundai sedan was impounded for 28 days.

He is expected to appear in court at a later date.

This comes as an unlicensed drink driver has been reported after he was caught nearly six times over the legal blood alcohol limit in Adelaide’s north east on Thursday night.

About 9.20pm, police were called to Grand Junction Road at Hope Valley after a white Mitsubishi van sped through road works.

The road workers at the scene stopped the driver and called authorities.

The driver, a 40 year-old man from Hope Valley subsequently recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.288 – nearly six times the legal limit for a fully licensed driver.

Police checks revealed he was also suspended from holding a licence.

He was reported for exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol and driving unlicensed.

He was also issued with a further 12 month instant loss of licence and had his vehicle impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

It comes as a tracking device has helped lead police to a teen accused of an alleged home invasion and grand theft auto at Medindie on Thursday night.

About 1.10am, police were called to an address on Robe Terrace after the residents were woken to a person entering and shining a light into a room.

The victim chased the suspect out of the rear of the home, but shortly after saw his Land Rover SVU being reversed out of the driveway.

The car keys were attached to a tracking device and the victim was able to provide location updates to authorities.

PolAir assisted with the search of the vehicle and picked it up on Muller Road at Hampstead Gardens, then west on Collins Street.

It was tracked travelling at high speeds and on the wrong side of the road on Main North Road at Sefton Park and then into the city via O’Connell Street.

The SVU was last scene travelling south on King William Road.

Just before 2.50am the stolen car was located dumped on Anzac Highway at Everard Park with a flat and off the rim rear tyre.

Eastern District patrols set up cordons and Police Dog Chaos and his handler located the suspect in the yard of a home on Hillsley Ave.

The suspect, a 17-year-old boy from Ferryden Park, was arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle, unlawfully on premises, carrying an offensive weapon at night, driving at an extreme speed and endangering life.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on Thursday.
