AN0M messages and the contents of drug dealer ‘OnlySilly’s’ phone reveal the hidden market for pills in the Adelaide suburbs

Thousands of messages and photos exchanged by young drug dealer known as “OnlySilly” have provided a rare view of the hidden market for designer drugs in the Adelaide suburbs.

Operation Ironside Phase 2

At 9.08pm on September 9, 2021, a cocky 20-year-old drug dealer living in the eastern suburbs and operating under the handle “OnlySilly” sent a message to his pill supplier over an encrypted app.

“I’ll have all of the 2k gone within 2 hours of getting them I believe,” he messaged the figure known as J0KER according to court documents.

The next day the pair allegedly met at a secluded location near an oval in Mitchell Park with OnlySilly receiving 1000 green Bitcoin pills and 1000 red Transformer ones.

True to his word, OnlySilly got to work and by 6.25pm that evening he messaged J0KER to say he had shifted 1000 of the pills.

Twenty minutes later OnlySilly was back on the phone to J0KER asking for a second lot of pills – 3000 – this time, because he had shifted his whole supply and had $24,000 burning a hole in his pocket.

Last month OnlySilly narrowly avoided going to prison for dealing drugs “hundreds of times”, including to high school aged customers in school uniform.

He was found with an encrypted AN0M phone handset – a specialised device only distributed among criminals and costing more than a thousand dollars to acquire.

Unbeknown to OnlySilly and the thousands of other users of the handsets across Australia and the world, the app was being monitored by the Australian Federal Police and the FBI.

Court documents have revealed thousands of messages sent by OnlySilly to J0KER as well as to members of a larger syndicate, exposing Adelaide’s pill culture and an insatiable desire for ever changing pills.

In the northern suburbs of Adelaide, allegedly hidden in a hydroponics shop, a drug chef was allegedly using a pill press to churn out hundreds of pills in a single evening.

But all did not go easily for the chef. He had constant demands on his time and, after throwing his back out, was running late with the shipment.

“Hey man, had some issues with equipment and the cold temp at night for last 2 days,” he messaged one of the senior members of the syndicate.

“I got it sorted so u should have in your hand tonight or tomorrow morning first depending what time I finish, sorry man.”

When offered another kilogram of MDMA powder to make pills, the chef grudgingly accepted.

“I’ll do them if u want, I mean I spent 2 days cleaning and greasing and tuning and swearing like f--- at the machine so I (might) as well make it worth it,” he wrote.

But the course of drug making rarely runs smooth and the chef raised the ire of other members of the syndicate when he decided to repress all the pills.

When questioned about his lateness, the chef responded.

“They were just a bit too soft for my liking,” he said.

“Not enough binder I reckon. They would probably be fine but I like to make them as perfect as I can.”

Other members of the syndicate refused to allow the chef to make the next batch of pills because of the delays.

THE PILLS

Volkswagen, Superman, Transformers, Apple iPhone, Mortal Kombat dragon, Mitsubishi, Tesla, Warner Bros – you name it and the syndicate had a pill stamp for variety.

But the drug suppliers had a different issue: convincing customers the pills, despite looking different, were made from the exact same thing.

OnlySilly was a perfect example – raising a fuss about being supplied red Transformer pills, instead of the green Bitcoins he had been asking for.

“I can make more bit coins if they want they the same just different stamp,” one of the senior members of the syndicate allegedly messaged J0KER in response to OnlySilly’s complaints.

On March 11, J0KER allegedly sent a message to the syndicate asking why he had only received 1000 Bitcoin pills.

“The transformers are the SAME,” came the terse response.

“Just different colour and stamp. We make them does he want bit coins I’ll get them to make more bitcoin they be couple of days.”

In a gesture of good will, the syndicate offered J0KER the opportunity for OnlySilly to make his own pills.

“He has orange hair so he will want Donald Trump’s,” J0KER allegedly said.

THE TEENAGE DEALER

OnlySilly was not alone in his ability to push pills on to customers.
On March 12, 2021, he approached J0KER to get another AN0M handset.

“Got someone wanting a phone I believe,” he wrote.

“One of the blokes that get bulk off me. He’s young as f--- as well, 17 but moves loads.”

J0KER allegedly quizzed him about the teenage dealer’s ability to pay for the expensive handset and the subscription to AN0M.

“He said all his money went into pills yesterday but when he gets money up he will,” OnlySilly replied.

He said the teen dealer had been buying ounces of cocaine from him for $9000 a pop.

“He’s f---ing weird but good at it,” he wrote.

THE AFTERMATH

After OnlySilly was arrested and charged with trafficking drugs in a school zone, J0KER allegedly went into panic mode, asking members of the syndicate to remotely delete OnlySilly’s phone.

At 6.18pm on March 19, 2021 a flurry of messages were sent from the J0KER account.

“Can u get that phone deleted,” he allegedly wrote.

“Reckon c--t got done. I (messaged) him on snap saying phone and he sent me a bail form.”

The next day the extent of OnlySilly’s arrest became apparent.

“Ay bro he got done with 2k,” J0KER allegedly wrote.

When police raided OnlySilly’s home they found multiple telephones including an AN0M phone and another device with dozens of drug adverts and messages with potential clients on it.

But OnlySilly was not done, despite being on bail the messages showed he moved to find money to pay off his remaining debt.

“He has 10 (thousand dollars) he is giving me tonight and maybe more,” J0KER allegedly told the syndicate.

“Has 1oz toot (cocaine) that didn’t find that he is selling today and getting coin for that.

“15k he is collecting from the other 1000 (pills).

“He lost his licence month ago so putting his car up for sale today.

“He has all the money covered.”

Other members of the syndicate have pleaded not guilty and will go to trial.

OnlySilly pleaded guilty and received a suspended sentence for his offending after a judge noted his rehabilitation efforts.
