A teenager has pleaded guilty to a second stabbing at Noarlunga Centre – after previously denying the allegations last year.

A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the aggravated assault of a security guard at the Noarlunga Centre Interchange, after previously denying the allegations last year.

Jayden James Spakianos, from Morphett Vale, appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates court on Thursday where he admitted to stabbing the innocent security guard on August 17 2023.

Just last month, Spakianos also pleaded guilty to a random stabbing at the Noarlunga Centre interchange that left an innocent bystander with a collapsed lung.

A court previously heard the victim, Scott Wimshurst, was at Noarlunga Centre on September 3 when Spakianos and another male began to taunt him.

“The defendant and the other male were drug-affected, yelling at each other, then stared at the victim,” the police prosecutor said.

“The defendant then (allegedly) approaches the victim, saying, ‘I will kill this guy’, before stabbing him in the back”.

The court heard the man was left with a punctured lung, blood in his chest cavity and a collapsed lung.

He told 7 News that it was the scariest moment of his life and that he panicked, fearing he would bleed to death.

Hailing down a bus driver, he then asked paramedics to delay his trip to hospital so he could provide a description of the events.

“Even while it was happening, I was wondering … is this real?” he told 7 News.

“Immediately my first thought was. I’ve been stabbed – ‘oh my god, am I going to die’.

“The only thing that was crossing my mind was, if I die, I’m going to make sure he gets caught. Because, you know, I don’t want to die for nothing.”

In September last year, when the then 18-year-old appeared in court for the security guard assault, the police prosecutor opposed all forms of bail, telling the court it was the second time Mr Spakianos had stabbed someone that year.

“He poses a significant risk to the community … he has shown he can’t be relied upon to comply with any bail conditions set by the court,” the prosecutor said.

Mr Spakianos’ defence counsel told the court his client denied the allegations.

“There are significant investigations that need to be undertaken but also by the prosecution who are obtaining CCTV,” she said. “Mr Spakianos has no history as an adult.’

Spakianos will be sentenced in the Nunga Court in April.
