A masseur will stand trial on multiple sexual assault charges after he allegedly preyed upon women he massaged and filmed them without their knowledge.

Sumit Satish Rastogi, 36, was working as a massage therapist at 4ever massage in Glenelg when the shocking allegations came to light that police allege were committed over an almost eight-month period at the massage parlour.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, Aaron Almeida, for Mr Rastogi, told the court his client would be pleaded not guilty to his remaining 66 charges, which included rape, indecent assault and indecent filming.

Mr Rastogi, who was in the country on a work visa, faces 112 charges in total, across 52 complainants.

Mr Rastogi pleaded guilty in April to 44 counts of indecent filming and two counts of indecent assault.

During that hearing, the suppression order on Mr Rastogi’s name, image and workplace was lifted after nine months of secrecy.

The suppression order was granted at Mr Rastogi’s first court appearance in July after a police application on the premise the investigation was ongoing.

A prosecutor then asked in March for the suppression order to continue, stating there may be additional complainants who would need to participate in identification procedures.

During his first court appearance in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court in July, a police prosecutor said early investigations indicated there could in be excess of, but at least, 264 alleged victims of sexual assault or indecent filming.

The court heard a phone Mr Rastogi had in his possession when arrested allegedly contained footage of the other potential incidents dating back to the start of 2022.

By the time he next faced court 17 days later, thirteen more women had made sexual assault allegations against him.

The court heard, at that time, investigating officers had tagged 721 allegedly indecent images and there were potentially 150 to 200 women who could be identified in the images.

He was initially denied bail before his then-counsel, high-profile defence barrister Marie Shaw KC, appealed the decision in the Supreme Court, after which he was granted home detention.

On Wednesday, Magistrate Karim Soetratma committed Mr Rastogi to the District Court for arraignment in October.
