A man who died in a horrific truck crash in the state’s mid north on Valentine’s Day has been identified as Mark Lindsell.
Mr Lindsell – also known as Stretchy – was involved in a shocking truck rollover at Barrier Hwy at Farrell Flat, about 18km south of Burra, around 6.20am on February 14.
The 56-year-old man from Paralowie died at the scene – marking the 16th life lost on our state’s roads this year.
Mr Lindsell’s daughters Paige and Tori play netball for the Para Hills Wanderers Netball Club, with the club saying they are “saddened” by this death.
“Stretchy was always on the sidelines supporting his girls and their team,” the club wrote in a social media tribute shared on February 17.
“He will be deeply missed.”
The club said their players wore black armbands following his death “as a mark of respect”.
Last week, South Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Association (SAMMNA) also shared a touching tribute to Mr Lindsell, who was a “proud member” of the SA Open Men’s 1995 National Championship-winning team.
“Mark’s contribution to our sport and community will always be remembered,” SAMMNA wrote in the social media post.
“Our thoughts are with his daughters, Tori and Paige, and all who knew and loved him.
“The entire South Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball community stands with his family during this difficult time.”
Mr Lindsell’s loved ones will be gathering at the Harrison Rivergum Chapel in Ridgehaven on Monday, March 3, at 10am for a funeral service to celebrate his life.
