SA Police have charged six masked activists who stood on the Morphett St bridge in the city last Saturday with a sign calling for mass deportations.

An SA Police spokesman told The Advertiser six men involved in the protest had been arrested and charged with wearing an article of disguise.

Three of the men have been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 5, two on March 6 and another has been bailed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court on March 17.

The Advertiser understands police will claim the men are part of the National Socialist Network (NSN) – an Australian neo-Nazi political organisation and Australia’s largest far-right extremist group.

NSN senior leaders in the state have responded to the charges by calling for the group to unite and called the arresting officers “race traitors”.

A source has revealed he understands most of the men come from Adelaide’s northern suburbs and as part of their bail condition have been banned from associating with each other.

The SA NSN posts openly on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) and have commented on 7News social media coverage of the Saturday 11 protest bombarding posts with comments promoting the group using fake accounts.

Some members also used the comments section to recruit new members by getting people to follow a link through a telegram bot.

The Advertiser understands the NSN’s “mass deportations” idea call comes from their belief all non-white Europeans need to be immediately and forcibly deported from Australia to “protect the racial purity of white bloodlines” as outlined in Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf.

Internal messages between members show the NSN believes they have a “sacred mission” to prevent white Europeans from becoming extinct.

The group believes “mixed race breeding” should be outlawed and tells its members not to associate with anyone with “non-white DNA”.

It comes as new data from the Online Hate Institute shows an increasing number of South Australians are adopting violent, extremist ideologies through social media groups Telegram, Gab and X.

The latest research from the institute shows that since February 2024 70 antisemitic items from 70 accounts in the state have been captured, including 33 X accounts with a particular flourishing in bizarre anti-Jewish conspiracy theories suggesting both Putin and al-Qaeda are secretly controlled by Jews.

Sixteen came from neo-Nazi gab accounts and 19 from Telegram.

In a statement to The Advertiser, an AFP spokeswoman said their Joint Counter Terrorism Teams (JCTTs) “are witnessing a significant increase in vulnerable people including youth being radicalised online, either by individuals, or through self-radicalisation”.

“Since July 2021, the AFP alongside its JCTT partners, has commenced investigations and conducted operational activity against 31 individuals who were 17 years old or younger, with the youngest being 12 years old,” she said.
