Shocking video has emerged of motorists narrowly dodging a head-on collision with a road train that was on the wrong side of the road during a failed attempt to overtake another truck in SA’s far west.
Footage of the horrifying incident shows a road train, carrying 90 tonnes of salt, trying to overtake another road train as both trucks were approaching a sweeping right-hand bend in Ceduna.
The road train moved onto the incorrect side of the road and remained there as two vehicles travelling in the opposite direction were forced to veer into a parking lane to avoid a head-on crash with the offending truck.
SA Police released dashcam footage of the incident on Thursday.
The near-miss occurred on Murat Terrace, Ceduna, in October last year.
Police investigated the incident and identified the alleged offending truck and driver.
A 60-year-old Port Lincoln man has been reported for driving in a manner dangerous to the public and he was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence.
The man will be summonsed to appear in the Ceduna Magistrates Court at a later date.
