An alleged child sex predator and creator of exploitation material, arrested following a long international manhunt, has been charged with nine more offences and ordered to stand trial.
In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, Samuel Joe Frost pleaded not guilty to 41 abuse and exploitation charges – up from the 32 of which he had been accused.
Counsel for Mr Frost told Magistrate Brett Dixon there was “no need” to read all 41 charges to their client, and that they conceded the matter should proceed to trial.
When Mr Dixon asked Mr Frost, who appeared from Mount Gambier Prison by video link, he replied: “Today I wish to plead not guilty to these charges.”
Mr Frost, 47, of O’Sullivan Beach, was arrested by SA’s elite Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team in March following a four-year international cold case manhunt.
Initially charged with 11 offences, prosecutors last month tripled the size of the case following further investigation of hidden digital devices found by sniffer dogs.
His charges include eight counts of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a child and two aggravated counts of indecent assault.
They also include nine aggravated counts of producing child exploitation material, and two counts of publishing or making it available to others.
Frost is additionally charged with 10 federal and one state charge of possessing child exploitation material.
On Thursday, Mr Dixon remanded Mr Frost in custody to face the District Court in January, when a trial date will be set.
