SATURDAY, JUNE 12
ELDERLY WOMAN ‘ABDUCTED’ AT HOLDEN HILL
Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was allegedly abducted from a shopping centre carpark by three women believed to be her family members at Holden Hill.
The 88-year-old woman and her carer were in the carpark of the centre on the corner of Grand Junction and North East Rds about 11.40am Thursday.
Three women allegedly placed the elderly woman into their silver Honda, with SA registration S443ASZ, and drove east on Grand Junction Rd.
The woman was later returned to her home unharmed.
A Ridgehaven woman, 49, has since been arrested and charged with detaining a person and endangering life, she will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police are investigating the incident and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed it, or has dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
FIRE AT WINGFIELD
Authorities are warning residents in the northwestern suburbs to stay indoors, after a blaze at Wingfield has caused smoke to drift across the area.
The fire started inside a large shed on Wingfield Rd about 9am Saturday and is currently being battled by 48 firefighters.
A smoke warning has been issued for Wingfield and surrounding suburbs as the smoke may be drifting.
“People are advised to stay indoors and shut doors and windows until the smoke clears,” the message said.

CAR FIRE AT UNDERDALE
A car has been set alight in an arson attack at Underdale.
The alarm was raised just before 10pm Friday, when the Nissan skyline was reported alight on Hardys Rd.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze, but police believe it was deliberately lit.
Anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in the area should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
SPEEDING DRIVERS CAUGHT
Two drivers each caught travelling more than 40km./h over the speed limit across the state have been fined.
The first driver travelling on Victor Harbor Rd at Willunga at 152km/h in a 100km/h zone on Friday night.
The male driver, 49, of Mount Compass, was issued a $1780 fine, and lost his licence for six months.
A short time earlier on Friday night, a Subaru was detected travelling on Balmoral Rd at Cockatoo Valley at 117km/h in an 80km/h zone.
The male driver, 21, of Cockatoo Valley, was issued a $1590 fine.
FRIDAY, JUNE 11
SPEEDING MOTORCYCLIST FINED
A speeding motorcyclist on drugs has been handed a mega fine near Port Augusta.
The rider was recorded travelling 149km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Stuart Highway at Oakden Hills, north of Port Augusta, about 7.30am Friday.
The 19-year-old P-plater from Clarence Gardens was drug tested and produced a positive reading to cannabis.
He was issued a fine of $2252, and lost his licence for six months.
POLICE WARN MOTORISTS TO TAKE CARE
Police are urging motorists to take care on the roads this long weekend to avoid devastating consequences.
Operation Safe Long Weekend will start today and run until Monday, targeting drivers who flout Fatal 5 laws across the state.
Superintendent Bob Gray, officer in charge of the Traffic Services Branch, said everyone needs to take responsibility for their decisions on the road this weekend.
“There is just no justification for taking unnecessary risks,” Supt Gray said.
“Police will be taking a no-tolerance approach to blatantly dangerous behaviours like speeding, drink or drug driving, not wearing a seat belt and being distracted. But we can’t make safety decisions for you,” he said.
He warned drivers to take breaks, and drive to conditions if wet and windy.
Over the past five years, six lives have been lost and 43 injuries suffered on our roads during the June long weekend.
SERIOUS CRASH WARRADALE
A man riding a stolen motorcycle has died in a crash at Warradale.
THURSDAY, JUNE 10
PURSUIT AT INGLE FARM
A man who led police on a pursuit through the northern suburbs this morning crashed into three cars and a bus.
Police attempted to stop occupants of a Ford sedan acting suspiciously on Belalie Rd at Ingle Farm at about 10am.
The driver allegedly refused to stop and was followed by police on to Montague Rd and through to Pooraka.
The car travelled towards Rains Dr, before two passengers jumped out of the car and ran.
It then crashed into three cars and a bus at the intersection of Bridge Rd and Montague Rd. Nobody was injured.
The driver did not stop after the crash and the car was pursed along Montague Rd, towards Main South Rd, through the Gepps Cross intersection and in to Enfield.
As the driver turned on Eddy St, the car hit a kerb and lost its front wheel.
The driver attempted to flee the vehicle but was stopped by police and arrested.
A 20-year-old Modbury man was interviewed by police, but has not been charged.
Police found the two men who fled the car in a back yard at Lock Cres.
Both men had outstanding warrants and were taken to Elizabeth Police Station.
AGGRAVATED ROBBERY AT MODBURY NORTH
Two men are wanted following an aggravated robbery at Modbury North.
The men entered a bottle depot on Famechon Cres and threatened staff with baseball bats at about 3.50pm on Monday.
Cash was handed to the men, who fled the scene shortly after.
Nobody was injured.
The men were both wearing disguises and were described as caucasian.
One man was wearing a long red and brown wig, navy baseball cap, sunglasses and a flannelette shirt.
The other man was about 160cm tall and in his mid-to-late 30s, with short hair wearing a dark hooded jumper and black beanie.

BREAK-IN AT ROSTREVOR
A man has been charged following a break-in at Rostrevor.
Residents of a Durant Ave home woke to noises at about 3.30am on Thursday morning.
They called police, who arrived within minutes.
Police Dog Zeus was called-in and located the suspect one street away.
Keys, phones and other items allegedly stolen from the home were also located.
A 29-year-old man from Hectorville was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and breach of bail.
He has been refused bail and will be appearing in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday.
CAR FLIPS ON ROOF AT GREENHILL
Motorists rushed to the aid of a driver who flipped their car at Greenhill.
The orange Renault Megane lost control and flipped on Quntin Ave at about noon on Thursday. Nobody was injured in the crash.
Delays were experienced as the scene was cleared.
TOOL THEFT AT KESWICK
Two men were arrested after allegedly breaking in to a car and stealing tools at Keswick.
They caught the attention of police by acting suspiciously and hiding in bushes near an Anzac Highway business at about 3am on Thursday morning.
The two men ran away in separate directions when they were spotted by police, dropping a suitcase and bag as they left.
Police Dog Bandit assisted the search and found one man on Leader Ave.
The second man was found near the Wayville train station.
A 44-year-old man from Oakden and a 40-year-old man from Ascot Park were both charged with going equipped to commit an offence, illegal interference, theft from a motor vehicle and unlawful possession.
They have been refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 9
SERIOUS CRASH AT DUDLEY PARK
An elderly woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car at Dudley Park on Wednesday morning.
The local woman, in her 80s, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital after being hit by a car at the corner of Regency Rd and Naweena Rd at about 9am.
She is in a stable condition
Regency Rd was closed for eastbound traffic near the scene for several hours.
DRIVER CRASHES INTO SOUTHWARK HOTEL
A man has been reported for driving offences after crashing into the Southwark Hotel.
The crash happened just after 10.30pm Tuesday, with police and emergency services rushing to the corner of Port Rd and Phillip St, Thebarton.
The driver of the car, and patrons inside the pub, were not injured.
State Emergency Services assisted boarding up the damaged building.
The driver, a man, 24, of Thorngate, did not have any alcohol in his system, and was reported for driving without due care. He will appear in court at a later date.
It’s not the first time the hotel has had a run in with a vehicle. Back in December 2019 a Toyota sedan crashed into it just before opening. In this incident the car smashed right through the wall and into the front bar.

SHED DAMAGED IN FINNISS FIRE
A former shearing shed has been significantly damaged in a blaze sparked by a fuse box at Finniss overnight.
The alarm was raised about 1.55am Wednesday, with 30 volunteer firefighters from the CFS rushing to the structure on Winery Rd.
The fire was quickly contained to the former shearing shed, which was in the process of being renovated into a dwelling.
The damage bill is set at $150,000.
CBD CAR BREAK-IN
A man has been arrested for using a corkscrew to try and break-in to a car in an Adelaide CBD carpark on Tuesday night.
A man was seen in a multistorey carpark off Waymouth St, breaking into a car about 10.30pm.
When police attended the scene they found a corkscrew had been snapped off in the keyhole to a Honda CRV.
The suspect was located nearby and arrested.
A man, 44, of Wynn Vale, was charged with illegal interference.
He was refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
TUESDAY, JUNE 8
TRUCK CRASHES INTO BUILDING
A driver has made a lucky escape after crashing a truck into a building on Tuesday morning.
Just after 10am, the truck reportedly hit a Stobie pole, before crashing into the Sprout Cooking School and Health Studio building on Sir Donald Bradman Dr at Hilton.
CAR TORCHED IN ‘ARSON’ AT ELIZABETH PARK
Police are investigating a suspicious car fire at Elizabeth Downs.
The alarm was raised about 3am Tuesday, when the car became engulfed in flames in a Cavenagh St driveway.
The car was completely destroyed in the fire and police believe the fire may have been deliberately lit.

MONDAY, JUNE 7
WOMAN BLOWS SEVENS TIMES LEGAL LIMIT
A woman will face court for drink driving after crashing at Belair this morning.
Police were called to Old Belair Rd, Belair, about 11am on Monday after a car drove over an embankment.
They breath-tested the driver, who returned a positive result and later recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.371, more than seven times over the legal limit.
The driver, a 60-year-old woman from Huntfield Heights, was reported for drink driving and aggravated driving without due care, and lost her licence on the spot for 12 months. Her vehicle has been impounded for 28 days.
She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
FIVE ARRESTED, FIREARMS SEIZED
Five men have been arrested and charged with a number of offences after police raided a Greenacres home.
The search of the house was undertaken as part of an ongoing investigation on Friday, where police found a BMW X1 SUV stolen during a break-in at Kidman Park last week.
They also seized a stolen, sawn-off Beretta 12G shotgun, a sawn-off .22 calibre rifle and ammunition, and a Glock gel blaster.
Five men at the home were arrested for a variety of offences, and investigations are continuing.
The arrested men include:
■ A 25-year-old of no fixed address, charged with two counts of illegal use of a motor vehicle, theft, property damage and domestic violence
■ A 29-year-old of Angle Park, charged with three counts of assaulting police, possessing a prescribed firearm, possessing ammunition and illegal use of a motor vehicle
■ A 30-year-old of Angle Park, charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, two counts of possessing a firearm without a licence and possessing ammunition
■ A 19-year-old of Port Adelaide, charged with breaching his bail, theft, and two counts of illegal use of a motor vehicle
■ A 27-year-old of Port Augusta charged with hindering police, and an outstanding warrant.
They were refused bail, to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
WATERLOO CORNER HOUSE FIRE
Investigators believe a fire that broke out in a Waterloo Corner home on Monday morning was deliberately lit.
The fire sparked about 2am Sunday at a Tozer Rd home.
Crews quickly contained the blaze but it destroyed the home.
No-one was injured, and the damage bill is set at $100,000.
The fire is being treated as suspicious, anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
SUNDAY, JUNE 6
SERIOUS CRASH AT EYRE
A woman has been charged, and will appear in court on Monday for allegedly hitting a man with a car in a driveway.
A man was rushed to hospital with critical injuries after he was hit by the car, shortly after 10.30pm on Saturday night in a driveway on Begonia Dr at Eyre, west of Davoren Park.
The man, 26, of Paralowie, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the car, a 32-year-old woman from Eyre, was taken to Elizabeth Police Station and interviewed.
She has been charged with aggravated drive cause serious harm, aggravated recklessly cause serious harm and aggravated acts to endanger life.
She was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
Major Crash investigators attended the scene overnight.
CANDLE CAUSES HOUSE FIRE
Firefighters say a knocked-over candle is thought to have started a house fire at Parafield Gardens.
MFS crews were called to the Chesser St property around 11.45pm on Saturday and managed to bring the blaze under control quickly.
The fire was largely kept to a bedroom, but parts of the house suffered smoke and heat and damage is estimated at $120,000.
The MFS warns never to leave candles burning unattended and recommends battery-powered lights instead of candles.

A man has died in a fatal crash at Gurra Gurra near Berri on Sunday.
