Prison health records delay alleged murderer, Sheree May Glastonbury’s, bid for bail due to health concerns

She allegedly murdered her partner as part of a love triangle, but prison health records have delayed her bid for bail.

A prosecutor has described the late disclosure of more than 500 paragraphs of supporting materials for an alleged murderer’s bail application “disappointing” and “frustrating”.

On Friday, the Supreme Court bail review for Sheree May Glastonbury, who allegedly murdered her partner Geoffrey McLean, was requested to be adjourned as Marie Shaw KC needed time to supply supporting materials to the prosecution.

Mark Alessandrini, for the prosecution, said it was “frustrating” to have subpoenaed records from the Department for Correctional Services and the SA Prison Health Service along with more than 500 paragraphs of supporting affidavit supplied during the time listed for argument.

“It’s disappointing and frustrating, there is nothing more that I can say your honour,” He said.

Ms Glastonbury, 49, has pleaded not guilty to offences including murder, attempted murder, assault and serious criminal trespass.

She is one of two people charged with Mr McLean’s murder, while two other people are charged with aiding and abetting in the disposal of his body.

Last month, Ms Glastonbury asked the court to grant her bail due to her sleep apnoea, scalp infection, vision problems, poor mental health and post-surgical “complications”.

She argued her health could not be adequately managed in prison, putting her in a similar situation to unrelated alleged murderer Raelene Polymiadis, who won bail over diabetes.

Mr Alessandrini requested two weeks to consider the materials – which Justice Ben Doyle asked be provided with a frame of reference, to ensure no further delays in the bail review.

Ms Glastonbury will return to court later this month.
