A Port Lincoln home care worker has faced court for the first time after she allegedly stole property from her client.
Terresa Michelle Murray appeared in the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court on Tuesday after she allegedly abused her position of trust to steal various jewellery items.
Ms Murray, 52, was arrested on November 5, 2023 for theft in what SA Police allege was relation to property suspected to have been stolen while she was working as an aged care worker in Port Lincoln.
Court documents released to The Advertiser allege Ms Murray stole six rings and a gold necklace worth more than $2500 but less than $30,000 in September 2023.
The documents further allege it was the property of Marilyn Antoinette Fauser, who was over the age of 60 years, and Ms Murray abused a position of trust in committing the offence.
Eyre and Far North Local Health Network chief executive officer Julie Marron said the home care worker was suspended on November 6 and resigned effective November 28.
“We are supporting our clients and staff as the SAPOL investigation continues,” she said.
“As this matter is before the courts, we are unable to comment further.”
Ms Murray will appear again in court again in July.
