Police probe Elizabeth Grove shooting after man shot in leg

A gunman remains on the run after a daylight shooting in the northern suburbs at the weekend. Police have revealed the incident sparked two traffic pursuits.

A gunman remains at large more than 24 hours after a daylight shooting that left a man in hospital in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.

Police have now revealed the altercation that happened at Elizabeth Grove on Sunday morning sparked two pursuits.

Police were called to a Main North Rd house just before 8am following a disturbance, finding the injured man, 36, who was treated at the scene by paramedics.

The victim was later taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital but his injuries are not life threatening.

Police said a white Toyota single-cab ute was seen leaving the area a short time later, heading north on Main North Rd, and was tracked by the police helicopter to a home on Womma West Road at Virginia.

STAR Group officers attended and arrested a man for an unrelated warrant. The vehicle has been seized for further investigation.

Hours later, about 9pm Sunday, police spotted a Toyota Corolla travelling along Womma Rd at Edinburgh with checks revealing the car was stolen from Belair in November 2021.

When officers tried to stop the driver it continued on and sped away sparking a pursuit along Main North Rd, The Grove Way, The Golden Way, before police lost sight of the car in the backstreets of Golden Grove.

The car was spotted by the police helicopter parked at an address on Persimmon Grove before it was seen leaving the address heading north on Golden Grove Rd.

The car was spiked and came to a stop in the carpark of a shopping centre at Greenwith.

A Smithfield Plains woman, 31, was arrested and is expected to be charged with serious traffic offences.

STAR group officers searched the Persimmon Grove home but no shooting suspect was found.

Northern District Detectives are continuing investigations into the shooting.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be a random incident and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
