A police officer has been lucky to escape serious injury after a routine traffic stop went awry on Thursday afternoon at Parafield.
Around 2pm, traffic authorities stopped a small tipper truck with no rear number plate off Lawrence Hargrave Way.
Authorities allege that, as the officer excited a marked police car, the driver of the truck rapidly reversed and crashed into the front of the police vehicle.
The truck proceeded to flee the scene, speeding past a busy hardware store car park.
The officer wasn’t injured and the police vehicle sustained minor damage.
SA Police suspect the vehicle is a 2007 Mitsubishi Canter tipper truck and is appealing to the public to track down the car and its driver.
Anyone with information that may assist with the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
