Police respond high-speed incidents with one driver flipping his Ford Mustang

Two luxury cars and a motorbike were involved in three separate high-speed incidents on Wednesday night, with a Ford Mustang flipping on to its roof.

A drunk driver almost two times over the limit flipped his car on Wednesday night, while in a separate incident a BMW driver was spotted going double the legal speed limit.

Just before 7pm on Wednesday, emergency services were called to the scene of a serious crash on South Rd near Royce Ave.

Police say a black Mustang was spotted driving dangerously before attempting to overtake a silver Mazda sedan and colliding with the vehicle.

The Ford Mustang flipped and ended up on its roof.

The driver and passenger of the Mazda received minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment, while the driver of the Mustang, a 30-year-old-man from Gawler South, was uninjured.

During a breath test, the man returned a result of 0.089, close to double the legal limit and was issued an instant loss of licence for six months and a summons to appear in court at a later date.

Later just before midnight, the police helicopter was assisting SAPOL patrols in Hilton with reports of a stolen vehicle.

During the search, a green BMW sedan was spotted driving 120km/h in a 60km/h along Grand Junction Rd before being dumped at a Semaphore Park address with the driver running off from the scene.

Polair followed the driver and directed patrol units before he was found and arrested at a Bartley Tce address.

The 27-year-old man from Hendon was found to hold a probationary class licence while an extendible baton was located in the abandoned BMW.

He has been charged with driving at extreme speeds and carrying an offensive weapon and his vehicle has been impounded for 28 days.

He has been bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on December 7.

Another drink driver was caught overnight and was issued a defect notice.

A 41-year-old man from Yalata was stopped in a Holden Commodore sedan at 12:15am on Thursday morning for a mobile breath test in Ceduna.

The driver returned a reading of 0.082, almost double the legal limit, and was discovered to hold a suspended learner’s permit and the Commodore was unregistered and uninsured.

An inspection of the car found the tyres to be completely bald and the driver allegedly in possession of a small amount of cannabis.

The Yalata man was reported for drink driving, his vehicle was impounded for 28 days and defected for the tyres.

He was also issued a $349 cannabis expiation notice and was summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was allegedly driving at high speeds while unregistered, unlicensed, in possession of illicit substances and allegedly high on meth overnight.

The 30-year-old man from Balhannah was originally seen on a Honda motorcycle travelling 155km/h in a 110km/h zone on the South Eastern Freeway.
