Police close Tungkillo Rd after truck carrying sheep crashes; Two police officers injured in crash at the Riverland

Police have closed an Adelaide Hills road after a sheep truck rolled – it comes as a police car was involved in a crash in the Riverland.

A truck carrying sheep crashed on a rural road in the Adelaide Hills which forced police to put closures in place for some time.

Just before 9am, emergency services were called to Tungkillo Rd, at Tungkillo, after reports of the incident.

Police have confirmed that no people were harmed in the accident, but several sheep were injured.

Police have now reopened the road.

Meanwhile, two police officers have sustained minor injuries after a crash between an SA Police Hilux and a Hyundai sedan on Bookpurnong Road, at Loxton.

Just after 11pm on Saturday night, emergency services responded to reports of the crash.

The police driver, a 55-year-old man, was taken to the Berri hospital for minor injuries while his passenger, a 42-year-old man, was taken to the Loxton hospital for minor injuries.

Both officers have since been released.

The male driver of the sedan, a 27-year-old French national, and his female passenger, a 21-year-old French national, received serious non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the RAH where they remain in a stable condition.

Police are also investigating a crash that left a young Elizabeth Downs woman in hospital overnight.

Just before midnight on Saturday, emergency services were called to Leonis Ave, at Hope Valley, after a car left the road and crashed into a gum tree.

The driver, a 21-year-old Elizabeth Downs woman, was rushed to the RAH with life-threatening injuries.

She is now in a stable condition.

Major Crash Investigators were called to the scene and are investigating.
